How To Call Bulgarian Phone Numbers

Navigating international calling can be tricky - here's a simplified guide to dialing a Bulgarian phone number from your foreign cell phone while you're in Bulgaria.

From a U.S. Cell Phone

To dial a Bulgarian phone number from a foreign cell phone while you’re in Bulgaria, you’ll need to do the following:

  1. Exit code: Dial the exit code for the country where your cell phone is registered. For example, the exit code for the U.S. is 011, and for most European countries it’s 00.
  2. Country code: After the exit code, dial the country code for Bulgaria, which is 359.
  3. Phone number: Next, dial the Bulgarian phone number you’re trying to reach. If the number starts with a 0 (zero), you should omit this 0 when dialing from a foreign cell phone.

So, if you’re calling from a US phone to a Bulgarian number, your dialing format would look something like this: 011-359-(Bulgarian number without the leading 0).

Please note that charges for international calling will apply according to your specific phone service plan.

From a European Cell Phone

When you’re in Bulgaria and need to dial a Bulgarian number from a German cell phone, you need to do the following:

  1. Exit Code: Dial the exit code for international calls from Germany, which is 00.
  2. Country Code: Next, dial the country code for Bulgaria, which is 359.
  3. Phone Number: Lastly, dial the Bulgarian phone number you’re trying to reach. If the number begins with a 0 (zero), drop this 0 when dialing from a foreign cell phone.

So, if you’re calling from a German phone to a Bulgarian number, your dialing format would look like this: 00-359-(Bulgarian number without the leading 0).

As always, international calling charges may apply according to your phone service plan.
